GOING DEEPER!

You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You.  Trust in the Lord forever, For in Yah the Lord, is everlasting strength.  (Isa 26:3-4 NKJV)

There was such a quietness; such a peace and joy this Christmas.  God gave us time to reflect on Who we have and what He has done for us.* It was also special because we cherished each other and every gathering and every conversation even more.

For me, the peace and joy did not come because there were no trials or distractions.  There were plenty of those.  It came because Holy Spirit helped me to be intentional to live the Word in Isa 26:3-4.  I have been practicing staying focused on Jesus, Who He is and what He has already done for me.  This has helped me to not allow circumstances or people rob the peace and joy that is mine in Jesus.  It has given me the ability to persevere and has helped me to continue to hear from the Lord.  I am still working on these things, however Holy Spirit has helped me to make progress!

God is always faithful to fulfill His promises in His word!

There are many promises in the Word of God.  Have you noticed that many of them are conditional?  Conditional on us doing our part.  God will always fulfill His part, always!

2 Co 1:20 For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.

This past year was amazing in that spending time with God, Holy Spirit showed me some deeper things in my heart and yes, repentance was required.  Before you continue reading, I encourage you to read my blog from September 27, 2020 entitled, ‘Repent with Joy and Receive Freedom!’

I pray that as you read this blog, you will be convicted, repent and receive freedom!

One morning I was in the Word and read Ps 19:13 NKJV.

Keep back Your servant also from presumptuous sins;
Let them not have dominion over me.
Then I shall be blameless,
And I shall be innocent of great transgression.

Presumptuous sins?  What are presumptuous sins I asked.  The word ‘presumptuous’ means arrogant, proud, unduly confident and bold.  It describes a person who says and does things in pride (their own will, way and timing), without taking the time to seek the Lord and ask Him if it is His will, way and timing  and then thinks that God is going to bless them and what they are doing.

In reading the teaching in my Bible, I got convicted, repented and received freedom.  These truths have helped me to grow in faith and will help me to continue in the faith.

This is the teaching from the New Spirit Filled Life Bible NKJV.

Authentic faith is founded on the promises of God in His Word; it is not presumptuous.  “Presumptuous” ideas about faith lead to attitudinal or behavioral sin; to missing the mark of faith’s true meaning.  Presumptuous attitudes are present when in the name of “faith,” a person either 1) thinks “faith” is wishful thinking or a fanciful attitude, assuming God should relieve all their discomfort and “jump” to their request; or 2) rejects any responsibility on their part to offer a devoted heart and the commitment to serve Him regardless of their life condition.  Presumption desires the promises of God without living a life for God and is hypocritical in His sight (Mt 15:8).

To protect from a presumptuous attitude:

1) root your faith in what God in Christ has provided in His redemption, not on what you might gain through presumptuous “faith” exercises (Gal 2:20)

2) develop your own personal faith, and do not attempt to live off another’s faith (as, for example, Sceva’s sons did-Acts 19:14-16)

3) walk in faith, growing in an intimate relationship with the Author and Finisher of our faith, so that you are known as His, and found in Him (Heb. 12:2; Jn 10:27; Phil 3:9).

I’m sure you will agree with me that we all want to see the promises of God fulfilled in our lives.  However, I have become more and more aware that many of His promises are conditional on me doing my part, rejecting ‘wishful thinking’ and believing that God is not about my comfort, but about my holiness; that He is sovereign and in control and who am I to tell God what to do, when to do it and how to do it (Isa 40:12-14).

I need to continue to spend time with God, seeking Him, His will, ways and timing about things.  I need to continue to choose daily to desire to live a life for God, offer a devoted heart and commit to serving Jesus regardless of what is going on around me, in my life or others’ lives.  It’s not about me.  It’s about Him.

Let’s agree to go deeper this year.  Deeper in our relationship with God (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) and see what He will say and do in and through us!

*from my journal Nov 20, 2020 “Word for the Church, the Bride of Christ, the Remnant-It’s time to stop asking God for what He can do for us and start receiving, believing and living in what He has already done/given, us!”

(Some promises of God to reflect on where you can practice doing your part-Mt 5:3-12, Rev 1:3; 14:13; 16:15; 19:9; 20:6; 22:7, 14,

**June 14, 2019 during corporate prayer I heard “so that” and the Lord gave me these scriptures.  It is a call to action.

Wendy, I thank God for you. You are always calling us, as the body of Christ, to come up higher. To be holy, repent of all those things that hold us back, and to move forward depending on God's mercy and grace to sustain us. This word is another one that is right on point, and if we endeavour to trust the Lord to guide and direct us, and yield to Him and not to our flesh that constantly cries out to be fed, fed, fed, then we will finally 'get it', and know that our Father is well pleased. As you have said, it's all about our doing our part and He never fails to do His.
