“I am the LORD; there is no other God. I have equipped you for battle, though you don’t even know me, so all the world from east to west will know there is no other God.
I am the LORD, and there is no other.” (Isaiah 45:5-6 NLT)

Friends, we are in a battle. We have an enemy that is hell bent on destroying us; at least shipwrecking our faith. We are continually under attack with sickness, disappointment, discouragement, trials and tribulations of every kind. But, we do not lose heart!

Proverbs 15 gives us 5 reasons to not get discouraged, nor lose hope. God is God, and there is no other! And…He is on our side!

God sees you: The eyes of the LORD are everywhere, keeping watch on the wicked and the good” (Proverbs 15:3)

Is it not comforting to know that the Lord sees you, and knows exactly what you are going through? This is a theme throughout the Bible (See Genesis 29:31-32; Luke 7:12-16). God sees you, and He is moved to respond! Look at these scriptures:

  • For a man's ways are in full view of the LORD, and He examines all his paths. (Proverbs 5:21)
  • For the eyes of the LORD range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to Him. (2 Chronicles 16:9)
  • Nothing in all creation is hidden from God's sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of Him to whom we must give account. (Hebrews 4:13)

God hears you: The LORD detests the sacrifice of the wicked, but the prayer of the upright pleases Him(Proverbs 15:8The LORD is far from the wicked but He hears the prayer of the righteous. (Proverbs 15:29)

God hears your prayers! When you cry out to Him, He not only hears, He responds! Verse 8 says your prayers please Him. He is ever attuned to respond to the needs of His children, just like a loving, caring, generous and good Father ought to. The scriptures are full of examples of God responding to His children’s cries for help. No one knew this better than David who writes, “The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears them; He delivers them from all their troubles.”(Psalm 34:17) When you cry out to the Lord, you are crying out to the only one who has the power and knowledge to deliver you. (See Genesis 21:17)

God knows you: The LORD detests the way of the wicked but He loves those who pursue righteousness. (Proverbs 15:9)

In order for this statement to be true, God must know what everyone is doing. If He sees everything and hears everything, then He must know everything. Jeremiah writes, ‘Am I only a God nearby," declares the LORD, "and not a God far away? 24 Can anyone hide in secret places so that I cannot see him?" declares the LORD. "Do not I fill heaven and earth?" declares the LORD (Jeremiah 23:23-24). David knew all too well that God knows everything. He writes, O LORD, you have searched me and you know me. 2 You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. 3 You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. 4 Before a word is on my tongue you know it completely, O LORD.” (Psalm 139:1-4)

God knows your heart: “Even the depths of Death and Destruction are known by the LORD. How much more does He know the human heart(Proverbs 15:11 NLT)

Is it not remarkable that, although God sees and hears and knows everything, He is finely and intimately attuned to what is going on in our heart? (Psalm 44:21; Jeremiah 17:10) God knows your pains, sorrows, griefs, wounds, desires, deepest longings, major disappointments, and greatest joys. He desires to be part of it! No matter what you are experiencing, God wants you to let Him in to your heart: "When famine or plague comes to the land, or blight or mildew, locusts or grasshoppers, or when enemies besiege them in any of their cities, whatever disaster or disease may come, 29 and when a prayer or plea is made by any of your people Israel-- each one aware of his afflictions and pains, and spreading out his hands toward this temple-- 30 then hear from heaven, your dwelling place. Forgive, and deal with each man according to all he does, since you know his heart (for you alone know the hearts of men) (2 Chronicles 6:28-30).

God knows your thoughts: The LORD detests the thoughts of the wicked, but those of the pure are pleasing to Him (Proverbs 15:26)

O LORD, you have searched me and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. (Psalm 139:1-2)

What is on your mind? God knows. You can share your thoughts with Him. No one understands you better than God. Isn’t it wonderful to have someone with whom you can sit and talk; who knows you intimately – all your anxieties, fears, concerns, etc. We pay to see counsellors to bring us relief from our emotional struggles. How much more able is God to bring relief, since He knows exactly what is going on with you…every intimate detail. God is able to comfort you (2Cor. 1:4) When my anxious thoughts multiply within me, Your consolations delight my soul. (Psalm 94:19 NAS)

Conclusion: GOD KNOWS YOU! DON'T RUN FROM HIM, RUN TO HIM!
