Matsa Moments - Pastor Mike

The Hebrew word “Matsa” means to: find, meet, discover, encounter. It is used in Deuteronomy 4:29 where the Lord says, "But from there you will seek the LORD your God, and you will find Him if you seek Him with all your heart and with all your soul.” Throughout Scripture, there is an invitation from God to find Him; He actually rewards those who diligently seek Him (Heb. 11:6). To see God we must be looking for Him.

This blog is a journal of finding God - discovering who He is; learning more about His character and attributes, as I encounter Him in in His Word and world around me. These posts are theological reflections emerging out of a desire to understand how the Creator interacts with us, His creatures. Hopefully, through these you will see how the Ever-present Holy One also invites you to know Him more.

  • Hello Chosen ones,

Paul had a brief visit in Ephesus along with the power couple, Priscilla and Aquila. On this visit he went into the synagogue and preached the gospel to the Jews. They were really impressed by his teaching and wanted him to stay, but he had a commitment in Jerusalem he could not break (Acts 18:18-21). The ministry at Ephesus...

    Mom’s the word! Proverbs 31

    August 23, 2021

    Hello Saints,

Proverbs 31, famous for its description of a godly wife, begins with the influence of a godly mother (vs. 1-9). For some 30 chapters we have been hearing advice from a father to a son. Now we hear a mother warn her son. Wisdom is for both genders, not reserved for male leaders only. Actually, a woman gets the last word on the issue...

  • Hello Saints,

We are in interesting times! Are you looking at the signs? Are you paying attention to what is happening in the world? To me, the remainder of Proverbs 30 describes a man, anyone really, who is observing life around him, and finding parallels and correlations. He looks at the arrogant and proud, the injustices in life, the chaos...

  • Greetings family of God,

What a faithful God we serve! This week’s devotional consists of three short verses - the prayer of a humble man. If you had two wishes to ask of God before you die what would they be? Would they be like Agur’s prayer?

“God, I’m asking for two things
        before I die;...

    Hello Family of God,

We are nearing the end of the book of Proverbs. After all the sayings of the wise, the wisdom brought forth, the instruction and advice, the warnings and direction, we are introduced to a new character we know nothing about, whose name means “gatherer” - An appropriate name for someone who has collected a...

  • Greetings fellow travelers,

Do you know where you are going? Do you know how you are going to get there? Do you know why you are following Jesus and where He is taking you? What is your final destination? What about a vision for your children, family, and your life? What is guiding you? If you have no vision for where you are going, you...

    A True Friend– Proverbs 27

    July 12, 2021

    Greetings Church,

Think of your best friend. Why is that person your friend? Why do you enjoy their company? What are the character traits that you look for in a friend? Proverbs 27 has some things to say about choosing a friend:

Verses 1-2  I don’t think we like to hang around people who are always boasting about the things they are...
