Greetings Fellow Followers of Jesus,

You are as bold as a lion!!! (Prov. 28:1)This is the testimony of the righteous; and that is what we are because of Jesus! We have faith and our confidence is in the Lord! Think of the mighty men and women of the Bible who overcame incredible odds and challenges because they trusted in an all-powerful God to get them through any obstacle. David writes with great confidence, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore, we will not fear” (Psa. 46:1-2) no matter what comes our way. Our trust is in the Lord! (see Psa. 27:1-2). Proverbs 28 is very encouraging – filled with inspiring messages to those who choose to put their faith in Christ and His word. Let’s go through and see some of these great promises to those who choose to live their life with God leading.

Proverbs 28:2 declares that a person of “understanding and knowledge maintains order”. Yes this applies contextually to political leaders, but it also applies to any leader who chooses to allow God’s wisdom to guide decision making. One of the major themes in the book of Proverbs is contrasting the wisdom of God with the foolishness of humans. Do you want “order” in your home, relationships, workplaces, families and lives? Then let God’s wisdom lead you. “Those who seek the Lord understand all things” (Prov. 28:5). What a declaration! Did you see the condition for this understanding – seek the Lord! He is the source of wisdom. The psalmist writes, “I have more understanding than the elders, for I obey your precepts”(Psalm 119:100). And the Apostle John writes, “but you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know all things” (1John 2:20; see 2:27). Do you see the blessing of knowing God, and having His Spirit to guide you? Supernatural wisdom, knowledge and understanding! What a blessing!!!

“The blameless will receive a good inheritance/inherit good”. (Prov. 28:10) What a promise! Those who walk in integrity, honesty and uprightness will receive a just reward. Another consistent theme throughout the Bible, is that of a blessing for those who walk in godliness (see Psalm 37). Jesus affirms this truth when He states, “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” (Matt. 6:33Proverbs 28:10, also has a warning to guard against being led “along an evil path.” If we want to stay in the blessing that God has for the righteous, then we need to make sure we resist temptations to stray in the path of wicked. Security and safety is available for the one “whose walk is blameless” (Prov. 28:18). The one who walks in integrity and honesty “will enjoy a long life” (Prov. 28:16).

“Blessed is the man who always fears the Lord” (Prov. 28:14). This could not be much clearer! Live God’s way, and you will experience the blessings life has to offer. If one should find themselves in a sinful situation, confess and renounce the sin, and God will extend mercy and forgiveness (Proverbs 28:13). Repentance brings blessing (Psalm 32:1-5; 1John 1:6-9). God is so gracious and merciful, full of compassion. He forgives the sinner, and restores them back into His blessedness (remember the prodigal son).

God rewards those who work hard and are faithful (Prov. 28:19-20). Actually, the one who is faithful to God and people will “abound with blessings”. What does it mean to be faithful and work hard? The answer is in the contrasting lines: a person is not “chasing fantasies”, nor “eager to get rich”. Simple, steady hard work – Steadfastness and consistency pays off. It is the one described in Psalm 112:1-9.

Look at these great promises:

  • “He who trusts in the Lord will prosper” (Prov. 28:25).
  • “He who walks in wisdom is kept safe” (Prov. 28:26).
  • “He who gives to the poor will lack nothing (Prov. 28:27)
  • “When the godly succeed, everyone is glad” (Prov. 28:12)
  • “When the wicked perish, the righteous thrive” (Prov. 28:28)

Friends, Proverbs 28 may just be the most encourage chapter we have seen yet! The message is clear: the godly are blessed! If you belong to Jesus, you are one of the godly ones, and…you are blessed! Praise God that you are His child, and He is blessing you with everything you need for life and godliness. If this is not your testimony, maybe it is time for a slight adjustment of the things in life, so they line up with His word. Let’s all step into the blessing of walking with Jesus!

"Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners, or join in with scoffers. 2 But they delight in doing everything the LORD wants; day and night they think about his law. 3 They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season without fail. Their leaves never wither, and in all they do, they prosper. 4 But this is not true of the wicked. They are like worthless chaff, scattered by the wind. 5 They will be condemned at the time of judgment. Sinners will have no place among the godly. 6 For the LORD watches over the path of the godly, but the path of the wicked leads to destruction" (Psalm 1 - NLT)

Have a blessed week!
